  • ID, tells the product which battery type is plugged it. Without the proper connection, the charger may overcharge, or ignore the battery


(Reddit:) The tool supplies 5 V to the "T" pin, which, if everything is fine, the battery switches a 20 kOhm nominal NTC resistor to ground. Because the tool has a 10 kOhm resistor in series with its "T" pin the voltage drops to 3.3 V and the tool is able to detect that and start working.
